"i'm getting some cash at 11 o'clock tonight, and I'll be your honey if you bet your horses right!" had me another beer and i started making faces dropped the mirror again and it cracked in many places breech baby go on home go on home breech baby go on home (random repeat) look at we! Sightless are the Wise in mirrored hall of crystal days with precious thrones of light my spine is bent another way - I ever seek the night a magic rain wraps evening dew - no reason to ask why I see a mirage face of you and touch the skin of sky ghostly drums summon now the dawn - I ride a moon-wind near the dream within a dream now sown with wanderers and tears yet dive you still the undermind of city streets and cries our broken dreams have made you blind - oh sightless are the wise! Chorus you disappear into a notion last bold flight o’er purple ocean I look aloft as you go under and now I live in memory’s wonder pearlescent eyes shine like a sea gem the bone-burnt waves dare now to hold them if my death draws your lips to mine - my casket not a tomb I’ll trade cruel life for sweeter wine – your kiss becomes my womb oh sightless are the wise my friend and homeless are the rich and legless is the marathon and fortune digs the ditch and fame is just an ashen urn - eternity a joke but should my heart you never spurn - love frees me from this yoke but should my heart you never spurn - love frees me from this yoke

SHELTER I parked in front of the woman's rescue shelter on a deep yellow midnight there's lotsa guys out there that prefer to belt her rather than just treat her right (case you didn't know) you suddenly appeared and asked me for a date. I said "I'll have to wait and see - I must inform you I have a mate and she's the only one for me!" (her) "Just take a closer look at my pretty face - I'm sure you'll change your mind! I gotta get me some a that unholy freebase, so its 5 bucks for ultimate head!" (him) well we just talked for a while and I scored you some food. I wan't tryin' to be crude, like the fat dude you alluded to who screwed you and talked rude and black and blued you and kicked you out in the street nude and wooed you back with 'ludes and promises of better moods. you left sayin' you was gettin' away from him - you were done with repeated sorrow told me your name - I think it was Kim, you said you'd be back tomorrow. a month later I heard a knock on my door. I opened it and found her all covered with sores, beat up like someone was settlin' a score, till they couldn't hit her no more - till it became a bore, her lips and eyes covered with gore, she was out of it - stunned to the core, mumblin' and whisperin' about bein' poor, I could see that her mind was tore, BRIGHT BLOOD covered every thing she wore, finally I knew it was that whore that I'd met who had swore she weren't gonna take any more a bein' thrown to the floor I took her to the rescue shelter on a deep yellow midnight now there's lotsa guys out there that prefer to belt her rather than just treat her right

IF I COULD WRITE A SONG if I could write a song – that held your hand when you are scared can I write that song? - made you know your dreams are shared can I write that song?- wrapped you in warmth when you are cold if I can write a song - gave you comfort when you are old! if I can write a song - stop him drinking when you were young can I write that song? - with loving arms and silver tongue... can I write that song? - to let him stay and love you true if I could write a song – that would solemn nights in dawn renew! I would write that song and sing it to you my dear! I would write that song! I would write that song and sing it to you - until you came to know the end of fear can I write that song? what is a song - sacred rhyme born from urgent need of heart! the night is long - no purpose there, just a soul and holy art! no right or wrong – when dream fills my eye, you are that vision's start! I cannot write that song - that calms your tempest into a squall! I cannot write that song - that gives you Eden without a fall! I cannot write that song - that gives you Eden without a fall - so I wrote this song - I wrote this song instead!

BROKEN WHEEL In the desert strange where cactus holds its breath the broken wheel sleeps quiet as a skull and vultures wonder if their invitations survive the hollow silent rains of fall the wheel once famous rolled across green prairie taking finery all to wrap the lady fair but a scythe-wind cut across the end-less plains left not but barren drift and open air in the days of man so too are stories written keep to yourself and be not proud my friend if like the wheel you are by mirrors smitten rare is the wheel whose wood outlasts the wind

ENDLESS NIGHT my mind starts awake by an angry light to behold a world both familiar - and strange sirens argue with an endless night harlequins recruit the recently deranged i hitched a ride on highway's revenge dreamers stand paralyzed to behold women forsake in an iron stonehenge where tears do flow into fountains - fountains of gold beggars take heed to dig private holes in tunnels deep under forbidden - forbidden halls jugglers and clowns walk invisible souls through darkened streets lost to one - darkened streets lost to one - one and all

CHARGE OF THE NIGHT BRIGADE Brother Bertie went away, to do his bit the other day. with a smile on his lips and his lieutenant pips upon his shoulder bright and gay. as the train pulled out he said: 'Remember me to all the boyds' and then he wagged his paw and went away to war shouting these pathetic woyds: "Oh hey is this, world in a top spun only once, come to full stop! Yet glory now, I touched your skin one blessed day, held you within! Now think upon, last season's bark and on along, back to the ark! In eons past, a smoke and war until you rose, and not before!" you reaped the harvest that was barren sown your tears a taste I could practice and hone your soul the only tourist in Hades when I led the charge of the night brigade- I led the charge of the night brigade. I led the charge of the night brigade! oh Woman will, breath now your sigh let heaven know, your battle cry manifest dawn, of a new day let freedom call, and hear you say - oh hey is this, world in a top spun only once, come to full stop yet glory now, I touched your skin one blessed day, held you within yet glory now, I touched your skin one blessed day, held you within fat dogs fly in coal dark sky siren calls sleeping dogs to cry inside the dog sleeps great white maggots with men in sacks and dogs who bag it and priests set loose the dogs of war and war dogs eat the hungry poor black men slave for dogs in heaven while rich men bone the dogs to leaven- men mount bitches from the rear guardians kill dogs for the price of beer dogs steal babies from the cradle while girl sucks dog long as she is able oh Harrys dog is playing poker while dog of Sam sends souls to broker and barker says his dog is cruel but buyer wants to kennel fools... and round and round the wheel it goes where it stops, the whale she blows. and beggars wear the crown of feathers and monks address their yawning betters and cannibals join the night brigade while kings do bless the masquerade (repeat twice) and round and round the wheel it go and where it stops, the angel row- the savage wheel will take a turn and most deny what they come to learn and hands will numb and jaws will slack and eyes will pop and guts will crack and chins will grin and wine tastes fine when you come to learn what the wheel will earn when you come to learn what the wheel will earn when you come to learn what the wheel will burn. All power is leveled when Delusion sings her comedies: everyman is born into a shroud-cloth delivered and embalmed in the same breath - staring into the sun. Be sure it's true when you say I love you - it's a sin to tell a lie millions of hearts have been broken - Just because these words were spoken - "I love you yes I do I love you - If you break my heart I'll die!" so be sure it's true when you say I love you It's a sin to tell a lie!
