lyrics

NOTE IN A BOTTLE

I’m sending this note - in a bottle to you
on my derelict boat - my thoughts all askew
in doldrums I float - under infinite blue
so I’m sending this note - in a bottle to you

in this whole blossom world - of minds and red flowers
where once I lay curled - safe in my own powers
my soul has unfurled - in the stillness of hours
and poetry hurled – into tresses and bowers

so wake not the dead - to tell of my sorrows
refine not your head - for yet more tomorrows
make not this bed - who knows what it borrows?
we will be wed – amid gravestones and sorrows

I write still these words – who to say where they land?
on luminous shards – of infinite sand?
or shall ocean birds – read them and brand
my vision as blurred – my hope now too grand?

I’m sending this note - in a bottle to you
on my derelict boat - my thoughts all askew
in doldrums I float - under infinite blue
so I’m sending this note - in a bottle to you

so wake not the dead - to tell of my sorrows
refine not your head - for yet more tomorrows
make not this bed - who knows what it borrows?
we will be wed – amid gravestones and sorrows
